Woodland Class
Welcome to the Woodland Class page.
Our class consists of Reception, Year One and Year Two children. We provide that nuturing, small class environment, where each child can feel valued and supported in their individual needs. Miss Emily Norton is the class teacher, and she is supported by her fantastic teaching assistant, Mrs. Witham.

During the Reception year, the children are given a play-based curriculum, based on the Early Years Foundation Stage. This involves a lot of exploration, and an emphasis on asking lots and lots of questions. During year One and Two, children begin to learn from the programmes of study from the National Curriculum, although we still like to encourage a lot of play based learning! Through daily phonics sessions, children learn to read and write from day one. Each day we have focused reading, writing and maths sessions for all of the children.
Please look at the links below to see what we have been learning about this year (in progress!). You will find pictures from events both in school and on trips, childrens work, and examples of the displays the children help to create in order to make our classroom look stimulating and inviting.
